Video Chat with Strangers for the week of Jan. 4-8

  01/04/21 08:03, by Lynne

Happy 2021 Laurelites! Here's hoping your holidays were restful, enjoyable and safe.

Here are this week's groups:

Ben Fritz Ena Flynn

Ethan Ambrosia Cadence Lotus Moriah

Jack Jasper Lani Sophia Anna

Miles Kate Sylvi Anneka

Sam Aiden Fiona

A reminder of the guidelines:

Each group is responsible for contacting its members about when to meet, so it's helpful to make those arrangements early in the week. If you haven't heard from a group member by Tuesday afternoon, be the person who reaches out to others to determine the best time/day to chat. Also, see below about how to log your calls so they count toward Laurel service. As always, if you have any questions, please ask! I'm always happy to help.

Did you sign up early in the school year but find you don't have time to participate? It's important to show up for the chats, not only to earn Laurel service and to have fun with your classmates, but also because the others in your group would like to do the same. If you don't show up, that can't happen. To be fair to everyone, if you do want to participate, please make the effort to do so; if you don't want to, that's fine, we understand. But please let me know so I can remove your name from the list and create groups from the remaining active participants.

Keep in mind:

You will be coordinating with your group members about when to have your chat. The chat should occur this week. If one person in your group is unable to chat this week (or does not respond to the scheduling request), go ahead and chat with the other person(s) in your group. Just be sure to make every honest attempt to connect with your group members.

You also are responsible for keeping a log of Laurel service hours, so be sure to include these chats on that log. Include date, those you chatted with, and how long the chat lasted.

In order to earn Laurel service, the chat must be at least 15 minutes long (but can be longer, counted in 15 minute increments). You also must mention in your blog that day that you had the chat, who you chatted with, and how long the chat lasted. Failure to mention these things means it won't count toward Laurel service.

Finally, if your group would like to chat more than once during the week, that's awesome. Just be sure to mention this in your blog post each time a chat occurs.
