Correlation graph project
For this project I wanted to see if there was a correlation between the average cost of a college and how successful their cross country team was. For my first graph I used a variety of the Division 3 UW schools. Taking my information from the 2018 division 3 women’s NCAA championship meet, I documented the average 6k times of each team. I then put the times into Google Sheets, and found those college’s average cost of attendance after financial aid.
Once putting this into a graph, I saw there was a slight correlation: the more a college costed, the faster their team’s average 6k race time was.
I wanted to find out some different information though, because there was such a slight difference.
Using the 2018 division 1 women’s NCAA championship meet for my second graph, I took my information from all different kinds of colleges, trying to use the most and least expensive ones. This time I decided to take the team’s score for the meet instead of their average 6k time. I again found those college’s average cost after aid and created a graph.
This graph proved to have very little correlation, but did show that the most successful teams are from the colleges of middle range cost.
Here are the graphs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1enkWLv5U7C3D0TEAPhTVfkSV8kx5SS8HXzWb8Ev58LU/edit?usp=sharing
**the lower the time/score of a team, the better they did

Cool, I give it a 10/10! Nice work.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the link that you posted didn’t show up as a link, it just showed up as regular words.
Fantastic – what an excellent idea – can you open the sheets for viewing?

Nice project Cayleigh, thanks for teaching me how to use google sheets.
10/10
